GEORGIA INTERSCHOLASTIC SWIMMING & DIVING OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION, INC

The Georgia Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Officials Association, Inc (GISOA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional organization of swimming and diving officials serving the metro Atlanta region of Georgia. GISOA provides officials for middle school, high school and college meets in the area.

GISOA is an approved officials group of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA). GISOA members are independent contractors, not employees of GHSA or GISOA. The GHSA is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). GISOA also works closely with the Georgia High School Swimming Coaches Association (GHSSCA).

GISOA shares the objective of the GHSA in promoting education in Georgia from a mental, physical, and moral viewpoint, standardizing and encouraging participation in athletics, and promoting sportsmanship in all competitions.

Many GISOA members are also certified by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Certified members regularly work college meets at Emory University, Emmanuel College, Point University, and Life University. Our officials also work the University Athletic Association conference meet, the Sun Belt conference meet, NCAA Division III Men's and Women's meets as well as NCAA Division I Men's and Women's meets.

New members are always welcome! Training takes place in September of each year since the NCAA and Georgia high school seasons are both winter: October - March for college and November - February for high school. However, we maintain a prospective new members list at all times. So feel free to e-mail Jon Challen at jchallen [at] gisoa.org for information about joining or to express your interest.

Coaches seeking officials for meets should also contact Jon Challen at jchallen [at] gisoa.org. Schedules are requested before October 15 of each school year so that officials can be assigned in a timely manner. Fees and travel for high schools are set by GHSA. Middle schools follow the same fee schedule.
